How to Generate Lottery Numbers

Choose a game from the Game dropdown and press Generate numbers. The dropdown fills in the rules for you:

5/50 + 2/12 means five main numbers from 1 to 50 plus two bonus numbers from 1 to 12. The page opens with EuroMillions selected and Number of lines set to 5.

For any other game, set the rules yourself. Numbers per line and Highest number describe the main pool. Tick Add a bonus pool to fill in Bonus numbers per line and Highest bonus number. As soon as you edit a rule by hand, the dropdown switches to Custom. Pools can go up to 1,000 and a line can hold up to 100 numbers, never more than the pool contains.

Number of lines accepts 1 to 50 lines per press. The result table, Your lottery numbers, shows a Line, Numbers and, when a bonus pool is used, Bonus column, with every set sorted from low to high. Above the table you see the Jackpot odds per line. Export the lines as CSV, Excel or an image; the note about how the numbers were drawn is included in the export.

Reset brings back the default game and clears the result. Changing any setting also clears the old lines, so the table always matches the rules on screen.

How Lottery Odds Are Calculated

A lottery line wins the jackpot only if it matches every number drawn, and the order does not matter. The question is how many different sets of KK numbers can be chosen from a pool of NN. That count is the binomial coefficient:

For a 6 from 49 game:

which gives 13,983,816 possible lines. Your jackpot odds are 1 in 13,983,816 per line.

When a game has a separate bonus pool, the two counts multiply, because every main set can combine with every bonus set. For EuroMillions and Eurojackpot, (505)=\binom{50}{5} = 2,118,760 main sets and (122)=\binom{12}{2} = 66 bonus pairs give 1 in 139,838,160. The tool does this math with exact whole numbers and shows the result live under the form.

Different lines add up: 10 different lines in a 6 from 49 game give 10 chances in 13,983,816. Lines from the tool are generated independently, so two identical lines are possible, though extremely unlikely. Some games also have extras that players do not choose, such as an assigned number or a raffle code. The odds here cover only the numbers you pick.

Do Random Numbers Improve Your Chances?

No. In a fair lottery every combination has exactly the same chance, so no tool, pattern or system can raise your odds of winning. A line from this generator, a line you choose yourself and a terminal quick pick all share the same 1 in 139,838,160 for EuroMillions.

Several popular beliefs do not hold up:

  • Hot and cold numbers. A number that came up often in recent draws is not more likely to appear again, and an overdue number is not due. The balls have no memory. Expecting the past to balance out is the gambler's fallacy.
  • Patterns and spreads. A line like 1 2 3 4 5 6 is exactly as likely as any mixed line. It only looks less random because we notice patterns.
  • Lucky generators. Software cannot see the coming draw. A generator that claims to predict winning numbers is selling a story.

There is one effect random lines do have, and it concerns how much you win, not whether you win. Many players choose birthdays and other dates, so numbers up to 31 are overplayed, along with neat patterns and sequences printed on the slip. If such a line wins, the jackpot is more likely to be shared with many other tickets. Random lines spread across the whole pool, so if they win, the prize is less likely to be split.

The honest benefit of a generator is convenience: it saves time, avoids human number habits and creates many lines in one press. Treat any ticket as entertainment with a tiny chance of a prize, never as a plan to make money.

Fair Randomness

Every number comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source used for security keys. Each value is mapped onto the pool with rejection sampling: raw values that would make some numbers slightly more likely than others are thrown away and drawn again, so each number in the pool has exactly the same chance.

Inside a line, numbers are drawn without repeats with a partial Fisher-Yates shuffle, the same way real draw machines take balls out of the drum. The tool picks one number, removes it from the pool, picks the next from what is left, and continues until the line is full. The bonus pool is a separate drum, so a number can appear in both the Numbers and Bonus columns, just as in games like EuroMillions.

After drawing, each set is sorted from low to high to make it easy to copy onto a play slip. Sorting changes only the display, not which numbers were chosen, and it has no effect on the odds.

Lines are independent of each other and of earlier presses. Nothing is seeded from the date or your settings, so pressing Generate numbers twice gives two unrelated sets of lines.

If you need plain random numbers rather than lottery lines, for example a single number between 1 and 500 or a set with repeats allowed, a random number generator offers more control over the range and the output format.

Syndicates, Classrooms and Home Raffles

Generating many lines at once makes the tool practical for groups.

Office pools and syndicates. Set Number of lines to the number of tickets the group buys, up to 50 per press, and export the table as Excel. Add columns for who paid and who checks the results, and share the sheet with the group so everyone sees the same lines. A screenshot of the image export also works for a group chat.

Probability lessons. Teachers can use Custom rules to show how quickly the odds grow. A 3 from 10 game has only 120 possible lines, while 6 from 49 has 13,983,816. Students can change one value at a time and watch the live odds note update, then compare the effect of adding a bonus pool. Generating 50 lines and comparing them with a real draw shows how rarely even a few numbers match.

Home raffles and party games. For a raffle with numbered tickets, set Highest number to the last ticket number and Numbers per line to the number of prizes, then generate one line: it gives distinct winning tickets with no repeats. If the entries are names instead of numbers, a random name picker draws winners straight from a list, and a list randomizer shuffles the ticket order or splits guests into teams.

Keep in mind that the tool is not linked to any lottery operator. It cannot buy tickets, check results or confirm current rules. Always confirm a game's rules with the official operator before playing.

Play Responsibly

Only play with money you can afford to lose. A lottery ticket is a form of entertainment, and the expected return is lower than the price of the ticket, because only part of every stake is paid back as prizes.

A few habits help keep it that way:

  • Set a fixed budget per week or month and stop when it is used up.
  • Never chase losses by buying more tickets after a run without wins. Past draws do not make a win more likely.
  • Do not borrow money to play, and do not use money meant for bills, rent or food.
  • Keep track of what you spend, including small amounts that add up over a year.
  • Check the legal age and rules for playing where you live.

Warning signs of a problem include spending more than planned, hiding how much you play, feeling restless when you cannot play, or playing to escape stress. If any of this sounds familiar, talk to someone you trust and contact a local gambling support service. Most countries have free and confidential helplines and online support, and lottery operators often point to them on their tickets and websites.

The generator does not encourage play. Its notes say the same thing on every visit: random numbers do not improve your odds, and every combination is equally likely.

How do I generate lottery numbers?

Choose your game in the Game dropdown, set Number of lines and press Generate numbers. Each line shows sorted main numbers and, for games with a bonus pool, sorted bonus numbers, together with the jackpot odds per line.

Can I generate numbers for a lottery that is not in the list?

Yes. Enter the game's Numbers per line and Highest number, and tick Add a bonus pool if it has a second drum. The dropdown switches to Custom and the live odds note shows the jackpot odds for your rules.

Is the Lottery Number Generator free, and do I have to sign up?

It is free, and there is no sign-up or account. You can generate as many lines as you want.

What are the odds of winning the jackpot?

The odds are 1 in the number of possible lines: (NK)\binom{N}{K} for the main pool, multiplied by (MB)\binom{M}{B} when there is a bonus pool. For a 6 from 49 game that is 1 in 13,983,816, and for EuroMillions 1 in 139,838,160. The tool shows the exact figure for your current setup.

Do random numbers have a better chance of winning?

No. Every combination is equally likely, whether you choose it, a terminal picks it or this tool generates it. Random lines can only lower the chance of sharing a jackpot with players who chose popular numbers. Only play with money you can afford to lose.

Are some numbers drawn more often than others?

Not in a fair draw. Over a very large number of draws the counts for each number even out. Short streaks and gaps are normal chance, so hot and cold number charts do not predict the next draw.

Are my numbers saved anywhere?

No. The lines are generated in your browser and shown only on your screen. Nothing is sent to a server or stored, so export the table if you want to keep them.

Why can't I pick more numbers than the highest number?

Numbers within a line are always different, as in a real draw where a ball cannot come out twice. A line therefore cannot hold more numbers than the pool contains, and the tool limits a line to 100 numbers in any case.

Why can a number appear in both the main and bonus columns?

The main and bonus numbers come from two separate pools, as in the real games. In EuroMillions, for example, a 7 can be a main number and a Lucky Star in the same line.

Why is my lottery's preset missing?

Only games whose current rules could be confirmed are listed. Mega Millions is left out on purpose because its bonus pool changed in 2025. For any other game, use Custom and enter its rules from the operator's official page.

Is a generator better than choosing my own numbers or the official quick pick?

All three give exactly the same odds of winning. The only difference is how likely you are to share a prize: hand-picked lines often use dates and patterns that many others also play, while generated lines and quick picks spread across the whole pool.
